Rev. Makeeda E. Brooks is a native of Boston, Massachusetts, and a daughter of Honduras. She completed the Transition-into-Ministry Pastoral Residency Program at Charles Street AME Church before being appointed in 2016 to the pastorate of John Wesley AME Church in Dover, Delaware.

She later became the pastor of St. John's AME Church in Niagara Falls, New York. Rev. Brooks answered her call to preach in 2008 and serves as an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Social Work from Virginia Union University, a Master of Social Work from Wheelock College, and a Master of Divinity with a certificate in pastoral counseling and spiritual practices from Andover Newton Theological School.

Rev. Brooks is also the founder of SistaFaith, a faith-based organization that empowers, mentors, and encourages girls and women in the Greater Boston community. Her ministry centers on advocacy, empowerment, and helping people reach their full potential.
